BLOGART - Lessons

As I have promised I am posting the first of my BLOGART classes in drawing and painting.

I intend to show my readers how to create a beautiful work of art.

It's not rocket science, so don't freak out!!

To start with, find a photo that pleases you, something that will give you pleasure from working on, but don't be too adventurous.

My preference for this lesson is a figurative subject as the naked body is a great place to start.

The shapes and curves of the female form with inherent shadows has attracted artists from the beginning of art history. You might wish to look at some of the great masters who have painted the human form such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Botticelli, Da Vinci and of course Michaelangelo.

Observation in any drawing is everything.

The translation of what you see onto paper or canvass is all important as in your creativity.

Here is the subject I've selected :-

My next BLOGART lesson will show you how to start.

ART LESSONS WITH JEFFREY

I thought it might interest my readers to learn that drawing and painting is inherent in us all. Primitive people throughout the ages have shown their creativity by drawing and painting on cave walls. Australian aborigine cave painting is well known to all Australians.

The real purpose of drawing artistically is to express your point of view about a subject applying your own experience and taste.

Then why a teacher?

If you are observant and thoughtful, you already have the ingredients.

A teacher will show you how to see and a method of putting it down simply as well as the techniques and the tools of the artist.

I would like to start a work on my blog and progress through it showing my readers just how it is done.

What do you think??

"Everyone is an artist in his dreams" Sigmund Freud

I always loved painting. As a small boy I was always drawing. I finished year 12 dux in art, at Scotch College Melbourne. I wanted to study art at RMIT but my parents were keen for me to become a lawyer and pushed me into studying Law at Melbourne University. Architecture was my first choice but I had no maths or sciences and so I agreed to study Law. After one year I persuaded my parents and the Architecture faculty professors to allow me into the Architecture school and I went on to graduate 6 years later. I worked as an Architect and in the building industry in Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland and overseas in London and Canada. Whenever the opportunity arose I painted, mainly land and sea scapes and eventually went off to take a course of painting at a local art school. I resettled in Queensland buying an old house at Mt. Tamborine in the hinterland of the Gold Coast where I set up a studio and Art Gallery. Exhibitions followed there and in Melbourne and overseas. About 10 years ago while renovating homes in Melbourne, I started painting again in a Caulfield studio.

Melbourne based, I now teach portrait painting to private students, in corporate training programs and at leading schools. I have developed a unique and accurate system that doesn't require a high level of technical ability and can easily be mastered by those with little painting experience.

As well as portraits I paint and sell landscapes and figurative subjects.

My works can be seen on his web site, www.jeffreykelson.vpweb.com.au as well as social media sites, FaceBook, Plaxo, Artwalk & RedBubble.
